Dr Michelle Mills

BVSc MVM

Veterinarian
Michelle joined the veterinary team in 2009 following her graduation from Massey University. She is a friendly, thorough, client-focused practitioner. She has proven to be a great asset to the team and has quickly become a firm favourite with many clients and their pets. Michelle recently completed her Masters of Veterinary Medicine and clinically has a particular interest in dermatology, internal medicine and canine behaviour. Outside of work, Michelle enjoys playing the piano, attempting pilates and exploring the beautiful local beaches with her husband Lucas, new daughter and golden retriever, Lily. Following her return from maternity leave, Michelle has taken on the role of clinical lead veterinarian.

Dr Alistair Newbould

BVM&S, MVM MANZCVS (Small Animal Radiology)

Veterinarian

Alistair is a graduate of Edinburgh University Veterinary School, emigrating to New Zealand in 1985. He is the practice founder and principal. His clinical interests include imaging (radiography and ultrasound), cardiology and surgery. Outside of work two of his main passions are motorcycling and skiing. It is with very great pleasure we announce that Alistair has successfully passed the required membership examinations (written, oral and practical) to gain membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Small Animal Radiology. He has prepared and studied for these rigorous examinations in addition to his normal long working hours. We are all very proud of his achievements.

Dr Kristin Townsend

Veterinarian

Dr Kristin Townsend holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Science from Massey University, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Auckland. Since graduation she has tended predominately companion animals including cats, dogs, pocket pets such as rabbits, guinea pigs, rats and mice, and birds and turtles but has seen the odd sheep or horse here and there. She really enjoys getting to know her patients and their families, providing preventative healthcare such as annual visits and dental health care, and also has a strong interest in soft tissue surgery. When not at work she is kept busy parenting two great kids and tending to the collection of other animals she is responsible for. Getting out into nature is a favourite way to unwind, so she is glad to call Otago home and can’t imagine being anywhere else.

Dr Anna Siohane-Royle

Veterinarian

Anna graduated from Massey University in 2020 and moved to the South Island for its proximity to New Zealand wilderness. She loves the diverse nature of the veterinary medicine and enjoys developing a relationship with clients and their pets. Within the veterinary field, her current interests lie in nutrition and imaging. Outside of work, Anna will be found either skiing or hiking, depending on the season. She is also trying to improve her native bird call identification.

Dr Rachel Stockwell

Veterinarian

Rachel completed her Veterinary degree in 2009 at Massey University and has since had a varied experience across the world. She has predominantly worked in mixed animal practice tending to all creatures great and small. She has just returned from 9 years living and working in Switzerland with her family and is looking forward to getting back into the Kiwi lifestyle. Her interests include client communication, dermatology and surgery and she is looking forward to getting to know the patients and clients at Humanimals. When not vetting Rachel enjoys spending time with her young family, getting into the great outdoors, music and painting.
